Officially the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg is reachable by a half-an-hour train ride from Lüneburg.
With its population of roughly 1.8 million inhabitants, Hamburg is the second-largest city of Germany.
Situated on the river Elbe, it offers a wide spectrum of activities and sight-seeing opportunities: Visit the harbour and have a boat trip through the docks, enjoy a beautiful city centre with its shopping opportunities or have some cultural activities, such as a visit of the Elbphilharmonie. Hamburg also offers a wide range of museums and concerts.
